AN EXCELLENT SEASON
It was an excellent season by any standard. 97 wins. Division title. Braves vanquished. So many happy recaps. The 162 game season is a true test of a team. The playoffs are a crapshoot. On balance, this is probably a good thing because it allows every team to have a chance. It also means, though, that the best team frequently does not win in the post-season. Well, the Mets weren't the best team in the National League in 2000 (or in 1973 for that matter), so now we're even (having been the best team in 1988 and 2006 and not making the World Series).
The key is not to develop a Steinbrenner mentality
